Renault Duster - as planned by the company, the car was supposed to become one of the most affordable crossovers on the market. Therefore, to create the machine, a platform was used on which other budget models had previously been built. Many details are unified with co-platformers. The front doors, for example, are taken unchanged from Sandero. The layout of the cabin is the same as the Duster hatchback, but the trunk is more spacious due to the large dimensions of the crossover.

The suspension scheme depends on the type of drive. All versions have McPherson struts at the front, and a torsion beam at the rear (for front-wheel drive variants) borrowed from the station wagon Logan MCV, or all the same McPherson struts (for all-wheel drive options) inherited from the previous generation Nissan X-Trail.

For Renault Duster, the following combination of powertrains is offered. A 1.6-liter petrol engine (105 hp) and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (90 hp) in front-wheel drive versions are aggregated by a five-speed "mechanics", and in all-wheel drive versions - by a six-speed one.

Another 2-liter gasoline engine (135 hp) in versions with only the front axle is equipped with a four-speed automatic, and in versions with a rear axle connected, a six-speed manual gearbox.

In addition, in the summer of 2012, sales of Renault Duster with gas equipment began on the Ukrainian market, the 1.6-liter engine of which is ready to consume both gasoline and propane-butane. On liquid fuel, the engine power is 105 hp, and on gas - 102 hp. This power plant is only available for front-wheel drive "Dusters" and is exclusively paired with a five-speed "mechanics".

Four-wheel drive is implemented using an electromagnetic clutch. All cars with the 4x4 attachment have three transmission modes - using only the front drive, connecting the rear axle when slipping, or forced locking of the clutch at speeds up to 80 km / h with a torque distribution between the front and rear axles in a ratio of 50:50.

The car is offered in three basic trim levels (Base, Ambienсe and Laureate), which can be expanded with additional options. Renault Duster ground clearance is 205-210 mm. The model is produced in Romania.
