Renault Arkana - front- or all-wheel drive crossover with a coupe-like silhouette. The production car was introduced in May 2019. Sales in Ukraine started in September 2020. The model was originally created with an eye on the Russian market and the CIS countries, but there is also a version for South Korea, which is produced under the Renault Samsung Motors brand and is called XM3. On this page we will focus exclusively on the original Renault Arcana.
In the lineup of the French brand, the Arkana SUV is one step below the Koleos. Its competitors include both C-class sedans/liftbacks (Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra) and crossovers (Hyundai Creta, Kia Sportage).
The "crossover" of the model is emphasized by a ground clearance of 205 or 208 mm (depending on modification), short overhangs and wide wheel arches in combination with 17-inch wheels already in the basic version. At the same time, the ascending waistline and the sloping roof profile give the Renault Arkana a more dynamic and sporty silhouette.
When developing the Arcana, the designers used the B0 platform from Renault Duster and Kaptur as the initial base, but in the end only 45% of it survived, and the rest of the nodes were created from scratch. The model received new shock absorbers and springs, electric power steering, reinforced body structure.
In terms of overall dimensions, Renault Arkana is larger "Duster" the second generation: the length of the cooper-shaped car is 4545 mm, the width is 1820 mm, the height is 1565 mm, and the declared ground clearance is 205/208 mm, depending on the modification. The Duster has LxWxH, respectively, 4341 mm, 1804 mm and 1804 mm. The wheelbase of the Arcana is also larger - 2,721 mm versus 2,674 mm of the Duster.
The trunk volume on the Renault Arcana is from 409 to 508 liters, depending on the configuration.
The five-door Arkana did not pass the Euro NCAP crash tests, however, in 2019, the safety of the model was checked by the publication Autoreview using its own ARCAP methodology. Automobile earned 15.8 points out of 16 possible. In the conclusion of the tests, it is indicated that the cabin cage is strong, the pillows and belts with pretensioners and force limiters are accurately calibrated for a displaced frontal impact at 64 km / h, and the injury prevention of the front panel and steering column casing was proved during additional tests.
Renault Arkana is equipped with gasoline engines in combination with "mechanics" or a variator. The base for the Arcana is the 1.6-liter aspirated H4M (114 hp, 156 Nm), known from other Renault and Nissan models. There are three modifications with this engine in the range: front-wheel drive with a five-speed “mechanics”, front-wheel drive with a variator, which has an imitation of a 6-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The second engine is a more modern TCe 150 (H5H) 1.3-liter (150 hp, 250 Nm) turbo unit, developed by the Renault Nissan alliance in collaboration with Daimler. It is available in tandem with the CVT X-Tronic CVT, which can simulate 7-speed shifts Automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system.
The SKD assembly of Renault Arkana for Ukraine was organized at the Zaporozhye Automobile Plant. Car kits are delivered to ZAZ from Russia - from the Moscow plant of the Renault Group.
