Description Renault Megane GT

Renault Megane GT - the top version of the front-wheel drive hatchback Megan fourth generation. In the model hierarchy, it is one step below the Renault Megane RS hot hatch. The official presentation took place in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Externally, the five-door sports modification can be identified by a sports-style front bumper, a fine-mesh black radiator grille, a rear bumper with a diffuser and a double exhaust pipe. In addition, 17-inch alloy wheels (optionally 18-inch) of the original design are installed on Megan GT, and there are “GT” and “Renault Sport” badges on the trunk door. In the cabin there is a sports steering wheel with paddle shift paddles, sports seats with velor upholstery and contrasting stitching, pedals with aluminum lining, as well as a button for turning on the sports mode of the RS Drive control electronics under the color display of the R-Link2 media system (in ordinary Megans on this location is the Eco mode key).

The new Megane GT is the first C-Class hatchback to feature a 4Control full chassis. At urban speeds (up to 60 km/h), when the steering wheel is turned, the automation turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction from the front ones, thereby increasing maneuverability. At higher speeds, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels for precise turning. The control electronics analyzes the situation at a frequency of 100 times per second and selects the optimal angle of rotation of the rear wheels. The maximum deflection angle is 3.5°.

In addition, the engineers of the Renault Sport division selected “their own” suspension settings and stabilization systems for the top modification of the Megane hatchback, and also installed more powerful brakes. There are 320mm brake discs at the front and 290mm at the rear.

Renault Megan GT is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 205 hp. and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch EDC. Thanks to this combination of units, the front-wheel drive hatch accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. Top speed is limited to 230 km/h. 

Another feature of the Renault Megane GT is the initially rich equipment, on par with the usual Megane in the Intense configuration. Default front and side airbags, curtain airbags, ABS, ESP, ASR (traction control), HSA (hill start assist), AFU (emergency brake assist), full LED headlights with designer daytime running lights , rain and light sensors, as well as the Launch control system. Exterior mirrors are heated, electrically adjustable and motorized, there is a “free hands” key card, a Multi-Sense driving mode selection system, a rear view camera, an automatic parking brake and other equipment.
